    How to Use

Start by selecting the currency you'll be paying with (your destination's local currency) and your home currency in the Trip Setup section. Optionally, enter your total travel budget to track spending throughout your trip.

Type any local price into the converter on the left — the amount in your home currency appears instantly. If you decide to buy the item, optionally add a label (like "Shirt" or "Taxi") and click Add to list. Your total and remaining budget update automatically.

Your currency settings and spending list are saved in your browser, so they'll still be there if you close the tab and come back.

Why Use This Instead of Google?

Google's currency converter tells you what one price is worth — but it doesn't help you track what you're actually spending across a whole trip. This tool works like a running tab: each time you consider buying something, type the price to check if it's worth it. If you buy it, add it to the list. At the end of the day, you can see exactly what you spent in your own currency, and how much budget you have left.

It's especially useful in markets, street food stalls, or any situation where you're making quick decisions about multiple purchases without a consistent reference point for local prices.

    About the Exchange Rates

Rates are fetched from Exchange Rate API, a free service that updates daily. For everyday travel price checks, daily rates are accurate enough. Keep in mind that actual rates at banks, ATMs, or currency exchange counters may vary slightly due to fees and margins.

This tool supports 160+ currencies covering virtually every country you might travel to.

    Popular Currency Pairs for Travelers

Some of the most commonly searched currency conversions for travelers include Thai Baht (THB) to Australian Dollar (AUD) for Australians visiting Southeast Asia, US Dollar (USD) to Japanese Yen (JPY) for trips to Japan, Euro (EUR) to British Pound (GBP) for travel within Europe, and Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) to Australian Dollar (AUD) for visitors to Bali.

Currencies like the Vietnamese Dong (VND), Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), and South Korean Won (KRW) can be tricky to mentally convert because of the large numbers involved — for example, 100,000 VND sounds like a lot but is roughly $4 USD. This tool makes those conversions immediate and stress-free, so you can focus on enjoying your trip rather than doing mental math.

Whether you're converting Moroccan Dirham (MAD) in Marrakech, Mexican Peso (MXN) in Cancún, or UAE Dirham (AED) in Dubai, all 160+ supported currencies update from a daily live feed, keeping your conversions accurate throughout your travels.

    Travel Budgeting Tips

Setting a daily budget before you travel is one of the most effective ways to avoid overspending. A good approach is to divide your total trip budget by the number of days, then use this tool to see what that daily allowance looks like in the local currency. That way, you'll have an intuitive sense of what's cheap or expensive at your destination before you even arrive.

When shopping in markets or negotiating prices, it helps to already know your upper limit in local currency terms. For example, if your budget for souvenirs is $50 AUD, convert that to Thai Baht once — then you know not to spend more than 1,100 THB total, without needing to recalculate every purchase.

The spending list feature is especially useful for multi-day markets or shopping days. Add each purchase as you go, and check the running total before making the next decision. It's a simple habit that can save you from an unpleasant surprise when you check your bank account back home.

    Privacy

Everything runs in your browser. Your budget and spending list are stored only in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. The only external request made is fetching live exchange rates from the API when the page loads.
