Running Weather Scheduler
Check the 7-day forecast for your running time and see which days are best for your workout.
How to Use
Start by entering your city name in the search box. As you type, you'll see suggestions — pick the correct location from the list. Then select your preferred running time, or use one of the quick preset buttons for common times like early morning or evening.
The tool will show you a 7-day forecast with weather conditions at your chosen time each day. Each day is assigned a Run Score — Green means ideal conditions, Yellow means acceptable but not perfect, and Red means you might want to skip or reschedule.
Understanding Run Scores
Run Scores are calculated based on multiple weather factors that affect running comfort and safety. Green scores mean rain chance is low (under 20%), temperature is comfortable (10–25°C or 50–77°F), wind is calm (under 3 m/s), humidity is reasonable, and air quality is good. Yellow scores indicate some conditions are less than ideal — perhaps a moderate chance of rain (20–40%) or slightly warmer temperatures. Red scores mean at least one condition is poor, such as high rain probability (over 40%), extreme temperatures, strong winds, or unhealthy air quality.
This scoring system helps you quickly identify the best days to run without manually checking each weather metric. If several days have Green scores, you can pick the most convenient one for your schedule.
Why Not Just Check a Weather App?
Most weather apps show you the forecast for the entire day or just a few specific times. This tool is designed specifically for runners who train at consistent times. Instead of scrolling through hourly forecasts to find your usual 6 AM slot across multiple days, you see exactly what conditions will be like at your running time for the whole week — all in one glance.
The Run Score also saves mental effort. Rather than deciding whether 30% rain chance and 28°C temperature is good enough to run, the tool evaluates all factors together and gives you a clear recommendation. It's especially helpful when planning which days to run if you follow a schedule like Monday, Wednesday, Friday — you can adjust based on weather instead of sticking rigidly to specific days.
Weather Data & Air Quality
Weather forecasts are provided by Open-Meteo, a free and open weather API that aggregates data from multiple national weather services. Forecasts are updated regularly and include temperature, precipitation probability, wind speed, and humidity. Air quality data (particulate matter and air quality index) is also sourced from Open-Meteo's air quality API, which is particularly important in regions where pollution levels can vary day to day.
Keep in mind that forecasts beyond 3–4 days can be less accurate, especially for precipitation. If you're planning runs several days ahead, check back closer to the date for updated conditions.
Planning Around Bad Weather
If you see multiple Red days in your forecast, consider shifting your running schedule to the Green or Yellow days. For example, if you normally run Monday, Wednesday, Friday but this week shows rain on Wednesday, you could run Monday, Tuesday, Friday instead. The tool is designed to help you stay flexible without losing consistency.
Some runners prefer to train in light rain or cooler temperatures, so use the detailed weather info alongside the Run Score. A Yellow score might still be perfectly fine depending on your preferences and training goals.
